RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Controller, the Business Systems Analyst - Production Accounting will be a team member responsible for support of critical production accounting applications (PRISM), identifying opportunities to enhance accuracy, timeliness and effectiveness of data and processes related to Production accounting systems. A dotted line relationship will exist into the Information Systems department to assist with communications, support and project management.


SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
  • Support for PRISM production accounting including:
    • documentation of PRISM procedures
    • writing queries on PRISM tables as requested
    • maintenance of user accounts
    • creation of change management forms for new PRISM versions
    • month-end interface into SAP
    • load PRISM reports into Powerview
    • input monthly Alberta oil royalty rates into PRISM prior to splits
    • ensuring users are appropriately trained on applications and processes
  • Evaluation and recommendation of applications, upgrades, and patches; identifying opportunities to support business processes.
  • Participate/initiate process and procedure reviews related to production accounting
  • Establishing, maintaining and executing test plans related to applications, upgrades and patches.
  • Maintenance of application software list.
  • Liaison with vendors of critical applications, escalation of issues with vendors and engaging IS as appropriate.
  • Maintain communications with stakeholders (day-to-day support, user group meetings, assessing business requirements for new applications)
  • Participate in Information Systems meetings as a communication conduit regarding upcoming projects and impacts to users
  • Utilize project management methodologies in evaluation and execution of projects

MINIMUM EDUCATION/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • B. Com or equivalent
  • CAPPA certificate
  • Minimum 5 years in a leadership role
  • A proven ability to lead process change within a production accounting environment
  • Excellent working knowledge of PRISM and related technologies
  • Excellent trouble-shooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven project management leadership skills
