For the last five (5) years or more you have been the "Sargeant" or key support person running or working in a technical sales office environment in Western Canada, preferably in the engineering field or the energy industry. If you have, this opportunity is worth checking out.

Our client, considered a premiere manufacturer/supplier in the global gas compression market and a well-established division of a Fortune 1000 NYSE-listed firm, is establishing a Canadian sales office in Calgary. This major player has recently secured premium office space convenient to downtown as well as enlisted key sales thoroughbreds to drive the business. These engineers are professionals who sell - and they sell BIG! You as the "Sargeant" not only can keep your team organized and on time, but you can handle customer inquiries with a deftness of a concierge at one of the world's finest hotels. You know how to and have negotiated phone systems, copier, office equipment purchases and leases. You know how to operate these in your sleep. While you will report directly to the Canadian Sales Manager, everyone swears that you are his "right arm" and that you seem to be able to read his mind. You will make the sales team look incredible to head office and to customers alike.

You feel very comfortable with the MS Office suite of products (including Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and you can demonstrate your proficiency if called upon to in an interview. You know your PC like your daytimer. You know your daytimer like the back of your hand. Look up dependable in the dictionary and we'd see your picture.

Pressure is your middle name; you sweat ice cubes. Yet people swear that with your bright personality, the office could save money on lighting.

You know how and have operated a phone system very effectively. You will be the first and key contact liasion for customers in this office. Handling the telephone effectively will be key. Qualifications
  • At least 5 years plus in a support position in a technical sales environment supporting 3 or more sales people;
    		•
  • At least 2 to 3 years as an Office Manager or as an Executive/Administrative Assistant;
    •
  • You've used your creativity to help put together and host lunch and learns, open houses and helped create the marketing effort;
    		•
  • Proficient with MS Office suite of products (particularly Excel and Word), internet research and use of email;
    		•
  • Proficiency in math and financial calculations;
    		•

    Skill Set
    The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate a high degree of skill and experience in the following areas:
  • managing many of the internal processes of a growing company;
    		•
  • excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills;
    		•
  • fielding incoming calls, maintain office equipment and office space;
    		•
  • performing word processing assignments, proofreading in Word;
    		•
  • constructing spreadsheets, tables, charts, etc., in Excel;
    		•
  • building PowerPoint presentations;
    		•
  • basic internet research in Explorer as well as proficiency with Outlook;
    		•
  • scheduling and meeting coordination, travel arrangements;
    		•
  • organizing company parties and employee activities
    		•
  • performing duties of a confidential nature that require solid knowledge of handling sensitive materials;
    		•
  • developing and maintain relationships with supply vendors and handling orders of all office supplies;
    		•

    Important Stuff
  • Position is based in Calgary. $34,000 to $45,000 salary paid on a bi-weekly basis.
